Ingredients

  • Vanilla Bean, 1/2 bean
  • Granulated Sugar, 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla Bean Paste, 1 tsp
  • Water, 2/3 cup
  • Espresso, 1-2 shots (hot)
  • Oatmilk, 1/2 cup

Method

  1. Toast the vanilla bean over medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned
  2. Combine sugar, water, toasted vanilla bean (split lengthwise), and vanilla bean paste in a small pot
  3. Simmer until syrup reduces by 1/3 and becomes slightly thickened (5-7 minutes)
  4. Let syrup cool completely
  5. Shake 1-2 shots of hot espresso, 2-3 ice cubes, and 2 tbsp of the cooled syrup in a shaker until chilled
  6. Strain into a glass filled with ice
  7. Top with 1/2 cup oatmilk and stir gently to combine

Notes

Use fresh, plump vanilla beans for the best flavor
Substitute oatmilk with any plant-based milk of choice
Strong brewed coffee can replace espresso if needed
