Horchata Cold Brew: A Creamy Coffee Dream

Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 cups hot water
  • 2 cups cold milk (whole or dairy-free)
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (or to taste)
  • 1 cup cold brew coffee concentrate

Method
 

  1. In a heatproof container, combine brown rice, slivered almonds, and cinnamon stick with 3 cups hot water. Let soak for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a blender.
  3. Blend until smooth (optional for extra texture).
  4. Divide the rice-almond mixture among four to six glasses.
  5. Add 1/2 cup cold milk and 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk per serving.
  6. Top with 1/2 oz cold brew coffee concentrate.
  7. Stir well before serving over ice.

Notes

Substitute blanched almonds for a milder flavor.
Use oat, almond, or soy milk for a vegan version.
Adjust condensed milk to taste.
Decaf coffee can be used to reduce caffeine.
