Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Heat over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the pumpkin is heated through and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar to the pumpkin spice mixture.
  4. Pour in the water and stir constantly until the sugars are fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  5. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the syrup to a gentle boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until slightly thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely at room temperature.
  8. Transfer to airtight bottles or jars for storage.

Notes

Stir the mixture well to dissolve all the sugar, especially toward the beginning.
This syrup is best used within 2 weeks when stored in the refrigerator.
Perfect for adding to coffee, lattes, oat milk, or warm spiced drinks.
