Ingredients

  • 2 shots freshly brewed espresso
  • 1-2 teaspoons sugar (white or brown, to taste)
  • 1/3 cup very cold skim milk

Method

  1. Brew two fresh shots of espresso using your coffee machine.
  2. Stir the sugar into the hot espresso immediately until it is completely dissolved.
  3. Set the sweetened espresso aside to cool slightly.
  4. Pour the ice-cold skim milk into a tall, narrow glass or container.
  5. Use a handheld milk frother to agitate the milk at an angle for approximately 60 seconds until the volume has doubled and a firm foam has formed.
  6. Gently pour the thick frothed milk over the espresso shots, allowing the foam to layer perfectly on top.

Notes

Always use skim milk or 1% milk as lower fat content helps the foam hold its structure. Ensure your milk is ice-cold directly from the refrigerator for the best foaming results. For an extra refreshing experience, chill your serving glass in the freezer for ten minutes before assembly.
