- Combine water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan
- Heat over medium heat until syrup simmers, whisking to dissolve sugar
- Simmer 2-3 minutes until sugar dissolves
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract

- Cool completely before storing
